Photographing swim meets is a lot of fun. There is plenty of movement to be captured. One of the best parts about swimming is that it is predictable - you know where competitors are going and you can anticipate their movements and speed. Its rare to have someone foul your shot if you are poolside - you are more likely to get splashed. In the summer months you benefit from bright sunshine that allows for faster shutter speeds, lower ISOs, and tight apertures. These are excellent opportunities to hone your photography skills and learn to use your camera's settings. Let's go to the pool!
